My Story

Originally a California transplant, I’ve spent the better part of my life growing up in the gorgeous mountains of Utah, where I currently live with my wonderful fiancé. As a kid, I took an interest in a variety of odd subjects, such as the solar system, reptiles, and psychology. I’d spend hours reading on these topics and absorbing as much information as possible. In adulthood, my fascination with the incentives that drive human behavior started to take shape. This, in tandem with various sales-oriented roles across various industries, including food and beverage, SaaS, and Teledentistry, led me to pursue a degree in Marketing — a field that I viewed as a combination of psychology, sales, and human behavior/action.

My Bitcoin Story

My Bitcoin story starts like that of many before me — with a Coinbase account in 2017, a little money to (effectively) gamble with, and a great deal of curiosity about the emergence of crypto. After several years of playing around with and trading various cryptocurrencies (and a few hard lessons along the way), I started to look at Bitcoin specifically. My goal was to understand how and why it maintained such strong dominance over the (now thousands) of cryptocurrencies in the market.

I’ve always been the type to ask a lot of questions and challenge the things we unquestioningly live with every day, such as our inflationary monetary system, which tends to do more harm than good to most of the global population. Once I fell down the Bitcoin rabbit hole, I began to study the broader economic environment in which we operate and the debt-based fiat monetary system that runs the show. It became increasingly apparent that Bitcoin was not here to merely be an investment but was created to solve a problem that exists on a global scale.

What began as an investing strategy with the simple goal of making more dollars became an ongoing study that continues to shape my views on time preference, relationships, economics, politics, and societal behavior. One of the most enlightening aspects of Bitcoin is that you never stop learning and growing, and taking a career step into the space by joining the Swan team was a natural extension of that.
